Parkland, Florida & the March for Our Lives
As a follow-up to the Parkland shooting and my Valentines Day post, I just wanted to leave this image in remembrance of the 17 lives lost in Parkland and for the families of the victims, but also for every parent and child who are afraid of schools' safety, and to add on to the list of shooting and tragedies.
All we can do to counter the hate is to love.
And it's hard enough for me to say that with all the signs suggesting to love less and defend more, but it's an important message and an important purpose. Being a part of the LGBTQ+ community, a community founded on the concept of love for all, I understand what it means to love everyone who comes to you needing love while also understanding that when you leave your doors open for anyone in need of love to come in, you can get a nightclub shooting. I get how hard it is to just counter hate with love when that can mean putting ourselves in danger, but we can't stop loving and give up hope because this is a battle, a battle of love and hate, a battle of good and evil, a battle of peace against war. But we cannot fight hate with more hate. All we can do is cry for the lives lost, remember those victims, and love everyone in hopes that nobody else will feel the need to shoot a gun ever again.
